Back Home in Missouri

United Kingdom 4 Comments »

We had a relatively smooth trip home today. We left Cardiff, Wales, at 4:30am (their time). We left London airport, went to Raleigh, NC, and then onward to Saint Louis. We arrived safe and sound at home in STL right on time, at 5pm central time.

Our last night at Cardiff, Wales, was a long one and the morning came early, but we all survived and had an awesome time that night sitting and talking about funny and serious things about the trip. We also handed out to some very prestigious awards, which I will be posting as soon as I get the list from Bro. Luke.

YOMers and Parents, please post your final comments and thoughts here!

Church Service in Cardiff, Wales

United Kingdom 4 Comments »

Well, we’re back after a long day of outreach and church service here in Cardiff, Wales.

We left the hotel to go to church service at about 1:30pm, and service began at 2pm. The YOM Worship Team, led by Javan McGuire, led the congregation into a spirit of praise and worship. Bro. Levine and Bro. Cooney greeted the church, and the YOM Choir ministered in song, singing “Blessed Be Your Name” and “The Enemy’s Been Defeated”. Bro. Kevin Raposo brought the Word with a Fiery Five, where he talked about the woman with the issue of blood. The YOM Sign Team followed with the song “Something Happens” and then Bro. Luke began to preach. His message was right in line with what Bro. Kevin spoke about moments before - he preached about the woman with the issue of blood and how “The Miracle is in Your Mouth”.

Several people came as a result of the leaflets we handed out this morning in the streets. One man who we gave a leaflet to received the HOLY GHOST for the first time during the altar service!!! Many lives were touched in this afternoon’s service in Cardiff, Wales.

We’re going to be leaving for home in the morning! We’re all pretty ready to see Missouri. Can’t wait to see you all! S

See you all State-side!

Morning Outreach in Cardiff

United Kingdom 5 Comments »

Hello everybody! We just got back to the hotel.

Since church service isn’t until 2pm in Cardiff, we went out this morning and passed out leaflets and talked to people in the streets, inviting them to come to service. It was a great morning of street outreach. We are praying that we have some first-time guests in service today! We covered a lot of area with the leaflets today - lots and lots of neighborhoods. Pray for the service this afternoon, and that we new guests make their way there.

We’ll be posting again tonight, with full details of the afternoon!

YOM in Wales

Today we took the bus to Cardiff, Wales (about a 2 hour trip). It’s been raining ALL DAY LONG. Typical Welsh weather, we’re told. We checked into the ETap Hotel, and then went to the mall and ate at “Oriental Garden”, a Chinese buffet place. We then went to Cardiff Castle, a fortress with over 2000 years of history, dating all the way back to Roman times. It is right in the middle of the city, and it’s the only castle in the UK to be owned by the city its located in.

After our castle tour (in the rain), we went gift-shopping in town and then headed back to the hotel for some time to relax. We ordered Domino’s Pizza for dinner, and we just got done chowing down!

We’re all very excited about tomorrow and the Outreach and Church service here in Cardiff, Wales!!! Continue to pray for MO YOM and the great work God is doing in the UK!

The Black Country & Fish ‘n’ Chips

United Kingdom 8 Comments »

Today we visited the Black Country of England, an area that got its name because of the iron and coal mining that led the world into the Industrial Revolution. The sky would get so black that the sun would not be seen in the middle of the day. It is not like this today. Instead, the area is green and healthy, and has been transformed into an open-air museum.

We were able to actually go down into an 18th-19th century coal mine. We visited a reconstructed village and mingled with the live characters roaming the streets. A 1930s-era police officer led us on a tour of parts of the village. We also took part in an 19th century schoolhouse class. The teacher was strict and we all practiced the “Three R’s” – reading, writing, and ‘rithmetic. It was really interesting to see how people lived in the UK in the centuries before.

After we visited the Black Country, we took two buses to Birmingham and indulged in a traditional dinner of fish ‘n’ chips. (We were all pretty excited about the fish ‘n’ chips!)

When we made it back to the college campus, we assembled at 9pm and had a good round of WarBall (dodgeball) in the Common Room. After we all wore ourselves out, we headed back to the rooms to rest for the night.

Downtown Outreach & Service at the Church

United Kingdom 9 Comments »

In the afternoon, we made our way into the very center of the city of Birmingham. Once again working in teams of 4-5, we handed out thousands of leaflets and talked with many citizens, inviting them to church and telling them of the goodness of the Lord. On our way back to the church, we got rained on quite a lot and most of us got a good soaking.

We made it back to the church and had a delicious dinner consisting of more Indian dishes like Chicken Tikka, Samosa, Chick Peas, Spring Rolls, Basamati Rice with chicken, and Pita. There were also many, many desserts. All the food was made for us by the Church, for which we are extremely grateful. It was a first for lots of us to eat Indian food, and we all enjoyed it. After eating, we set up for that night’s church service.

Tonight’s service was truly a move of God from start to finish. The YOM worship team sang a few songs, and then the YOM Choir sang “Blessed Be Your Name”, and a awesome spirit of true worship saturated the room. The spirit of God took charge of the service from there! Music kept playing, but YOMers allowed themselves to be led by God and began to minister to other YOMers and church members. Several YOMers took the mic and freely spoke words of encouragement over the group. People were broken down in total praise and were authentically connecting with God in the kind of way that really changes your life and leads you deeper in your walk with God. It was the most personal and powerful move of God we’ve had YET among the YOMers in the UK.  God was calling people into ministry tonight!  It was powerful!  At the end of the service, Sis. Gadd (the pastors wife) took the mic to hand out a small gift to each of us.  When she did, a powerful Spirit moved into the room.  A word of prophecy went forth that just as she was giving us gifts, that God was here to give gifts as well.  A tremendous annointing fell and God put a call on many lives.  It was AWESOME!

We went to the bus stop to go back to our rooms.  We sang worship songs the whole way.  We ended up at the bus stop, which was right in front of a pub.  The bus didn’t come for quite awhile.  We sang song after song, still worhipping in the after-glow of the service. People  started coming out of the pub to stand and listen.  We gave them invitations to the church & the conference next week.  By the time our bus finally came, we had assembled quite a crowd.  Thank God for His Spirit!

Lives Changed Forever in the Streets of Birmingham

United Kingdom 3 Comments »

We took our bus ride to the OneStop market in the city this morning, arriving at about 11am. We anticipated a rainy day. We began to set up in front of the market knowing that we didn’t exactly have a permit to congregate in the area. But GOD showed us favor with the people who owned the market, and as Bro. Luke and Bro. Joe talked to them, they agreed to let us have one hour to minister there - and what an hour it was!!!

Just like the previous day, YOMers sang Choir songs, testified (about 7-8 YOMers spoke), did a stirring Drama, and talked to the people in the area about Jesus and the church in Birmingham. Several onlookers stayed near the entire hour and were touched by service. We had prayer with a few people, and - are you ready for this? - one lady was filled with the Holy Ghost for the very first time right there on the sidewalk!!! When Bro. Luke and Sis. Vicky went and began to talk to her, she said that she felt something drawing her to that specific marketplace - a location out of her way and across town. She said that she’d never had the Holy Ghost but that she wanted it, and after praying for a couple minutes, he laid hands on her forehead and she began to speak in other tongues!

This awesome experience that the YOMers witnessed left us all with the assurence that God can and WILL work ANYWHERE. Truly the events of this morning and afternoon alone make all the preperation both before and after we arrived in the UK well worth it!!

When we concluded street service and packed it up, we headed into the market and ate at Burger King. We then caught walked to The Birmingham Lighthouse UPC, and rested for a little while before heading out for more street outreach.
